Author’s Note: I guess what this is all about is individuals. The rhetoric around American energy, like a lot of rhetoric around anything, focuses on big terms and groups like “Foreign Countries” and “Miners” and “Officials” and I’m using this work as an opportunity to focus closely on people in my family, on the individuals behind the rhetoric, who happened to play a role in the history of Pennsylvania Coal.
